Weeds are any plants growing where it is not wanted and can be exotic/alien or indigenous. A’Africa specialises in Industrial Weed Management (IWM). This entails; Identifying declared weeds, knowledge of relevant laws, controlling alien vegetation, safely and in an environmental manner, rehabilitating cleared areas, managing control programs and advising our customers.
We are regulated by the following Legislation:
The Fertilisers, Farm feeds, Agricultural Remedies and Stock remedies Act, 1947 (Act No 36 of 1947)
The Conservation of Agricultural Resources Act, 1983 (Act No43 of 1983)
The National Water Act, 1998 (Act No 36 of 1998)
The Environmental Conservation Act, 1989 (Act No 73 of 1989)
We provide services of Selective or Non-selective weed control, by utilizing either a systemic or contact herbicide or a combination. We can provide you with a pre- or/and post emergence treatment with long or short residual.
Factors we consider to ensure effective weed control:
- The climate (Rainfall, temperature, wind, humidity, moisture)
- Clay content of soil
- Development stage of the weeds
- Herbicide application
- Correct identification of problem weeds
Control methods we use, are mechanical control, chemical control or a combination of both (Integrated control strategy).
